Use VeloLoop With Other Apps
VeloLoop can run alongside other cycling applications when your hardware supports it. The key factor is whether your sensors allow independent Bluetooth access.
Choose your setup
VeloLoop alone
Using VeloLoop as your only cycling app
Connect your smart trainer or power meter, plus optional heart-rate and cadence sensors. All Bluetooth connections go directly to VeloLoop.
This is the simplest setup. Watch whatever you want while VeloLoop provides ambient feedback on your effort.
Another app on a separate device
Zwift, ROUVY or TrainerRoad on a tablet — VeloLoop on your computer
Some trainers support multiple simultaneous Bluetooth connections. If yours does, both your tablet app and VeloLoop on your computer can connect independently.
If your trainer only supports one Bluetooth connection, connect it to the tablet app. Use a separate BLE power meter or other sensor for VeloLoop.
Note: Multi-connection support varies by trainer model and firmware. Test your specific hardware.
Another app on the same computer
Both apps running on one PC
The cycling app connects to your smart trainer for resistance control, virtual roads and so on. VeloLoop reads from an independent BLE power meter or heart-rate/cadence sensor that the other app is not using.
VeloLoop does not need your trainer — it just needs a compatible sensor that is not already claimed by the other app.
If your cycling app connects to the trainer over ANT+ or Wi-Fi, the trainer's Bluetooth connection may be free for VeloLoop to use instead.
Single-connection trainer, no separate sensor
My trainer only has one connection and I don't have another sensor
If your trainer supports only one Bluetooth connection and you do not have an independent sensor, VeloLoop cannot connect while another app is using the trainer.
A standalone BLE heart-rate monitor or power meter is an affordable addition that opens up multi-app setups.
Your entertainment display
VeloLoop's feedback overlay appears on a computer-connected display that you choose in settings. An external monitor or TV connected to your computer works well.
VeloLoop cannot remotely control a smart TV, tablet or phone that is not connected to your computer. The display must be recognised by Windows as a standard monitor.
Tips for a smooth multi-app setup
- Test both launch orders — start VeloLoop first, then your cycling app, and try the reverse.
- Use ANT+ or Wi-Fi for the cycling app's trainer connection when possible, leaving Bluetooth free for VeloLoop.
- Check your trainer's documentation for details on multi-connection support.
- In Feedback Only mode (the default), VeloLoop only reads sensor data and does not interfere with trainer control. If you enable ERG or Resistance mode, VeloLoop takes control of the trainer — do not run another app that also controls the trainer at the same time.
Good to know: In Feedback Only mode (the default), VeloLoop only reads sensor data and does not send commands to your trainer. If you enable ERG or Resistance mode, VeloLoop takes control of the trainer — avoid running another app that also controls the trainer at the same time. For multi-app setups, Feedback Only is the recommended choice.
