TrainingPeaks
TrainingPeaks is a popular training platform used by coaches and athletes. VeloLoop works with TrainingPeaks in two directions: you can import planned workouts from TrainingPeaks, and upload completed ride files back.
Import workouts from TrainingPeaks
TrainingPeaks workouts can be exported in several formats that VeloLoop supports.
Recommended export format: .erg (absolute watts) or .fit (planned workout).
Steps to export from TrainingPeaks
- 1Open your training calendar on TrainingPeaks.
- 2Click on the planned workout.
- 3Look for an export or download option (this may be .fit or .erg depending on the workout type).
- 4Save the file and import it into VeloLoop via the Workout Builder.
ZWO files from TrainingPeaks are also supported (FTP-percentage based). See the Import Workouts page for detailed import instructions.
Upload completed rides to TrainingPeaks
VeloLoop saves every ride as a FIT activity file in Documents/VeloLoop/Rides.
Steps to upload
- 1Log into TrainingPeaks.
- 2Navigate to the manual upload page.
- 3Select your FIT file.
- 4TrainingPeaks will process the file and display your ride data.
Note: There is no direct API integration between VeloLoop and TrainingPeaks. Upload is manual via the web interface.
What TrainingPeaks sees in your file
Power data
Second-by-second power from your trainer or power meter. TSS is calculated automatically.
Cadence
Pedalling cadence if your sensor provides it.
Heart rate
If a heart-rate monitor was connected during the ride.
Estimated distance and speed
If virtual distance is enabled in VeloLoop, estimated distance and speed derived from power using a flat-road physics model are included in the FIT file. TrainingPeaks displays these alongside power metrics.
TSS and training load
- TrainingPeaks calculates Training Stress Score (TSS) from your power data and your FTP setting in TrainingPeaks.
- Make sure your FTP is set correctly in TrainingPeaks for accurate TSS values.
- IF/NP and other power-based metrics are derived normally.
Why no direct sync?
- TrainingPeaks does not currently offer a public API for third-party desktop apps to upload activities.
- VeloLoop uses only officially documented, permitted integration methods.
- File-based upload is reliable and gives you full control over what gets shared.
