Display & Feedback

VeloLoop provides ambient visual feedback on your chosen display. When your effort drifts outside the target range, the screen gradually changes to nudge you back. When you return to the target, the feedback clears smoothly.

How feedback works

VeloLoop uses up to three types of feedback, applied gradually as your effort moves further from the target.

Dim screen

A transparent black overlay gradually increases in opacity. The further you drift from target, the darker your display becomes.

Reduce viewing area

Opaque black borders grow inward from the edges of the screen with a softened inner edge. Your content remains visible in the centre, but the usable area shrinks as you move off target.

Reduce audio

Optional

Lowers the Windows master volume when effort drifts off target. This is off by default and can be enabled in settings.

Feedback strength

Choose a preset to control how strongly VeloLoop responds when your effort drifts. You can also set custom values.

PresetMax dimMax borderMax audio reduction
Gentle35 %6 %10 %
Normal45 %8 %20 %

Neither visual setting can completely black out the display. A built-in floor ensures your content always remains partially visible.

Timing

  • Grace period: 5 seconds per metric (adjustable). Feedback does not begin until you have been outside the target range for this long.
  • Feedback appears gradually over approximately 1.5 seconds.
  • Recovery clears over approximately 0.9 seconds when your effort returns to the target range.
  • Diagnostic cue: a brief on-screen label shows the metric and direction (for example, "POWER ↑" or "CADENCE ↓") for 2.2 seconds so you know what to adjust.

Choosing a display

In VeloLoop's settings, select which monitor to use for feedback. If you have an external monitor or TV connected to your computer, you can choose that display so the feedback appears where you are watching.

If the selected display is disconnected during a ride, feedback stops immediately. Reconnecting the display or choosing a different one restores normal behaviour.

Fullscreen compatibility

✓
Browser fullscreen (YouTube, Netflix)
✓
VLC and similar media players
✗
Windows Media Player immersive fullscreen — Window band ordering limitation
✗
True DirectX exclusive fullscreen — May prevent the overlay from appearing

When your application offers a choice, use borderless fullscreen rather than exclusive fullscreen for the best compatibility with VeloLoop's overlay.

Emergency pause

Press Ctrl + Shift + F11 to immediately pause all feedback. This works from any application, even when VeloLoop is in the background.

You can also pause feedback from the system tray icon or the HUD overlay.
