Getting Started with VeloLoop

VeloLoop sits on top of whatever you're watching and gently nudges your screen when your effort drifts off target. No accounts, no internet connection, no fuss — just you, your sensors and your favourite show. This guide walks you through your first ride.

What you need

  • A computer running Windows 11
  • At least one Bluetooth cycling sensor — a power meter, smart trainer, heart-rate monitor or cadence sensor
  • Your entertainment ready — YouTube, Netflix, a film, a football match, whatever you like

Quick setup

  1. 1

Extract VeloLoop from the downloaded archive and open the app.

  2. 2

Scan for Bluetooth sensors. VeloLoop will list every compatible device it finds nearby.

  3. 3

Select a sensor for each metric you want to track — power, cadence, heart rate, or any combination.

  4. 4

Choose Steady mode for simple, fixed targets, or Timed Workout if you want interval steps.

  5. 5

Set your target ranges for each metric and pick a feedback preset (Gentle or Normal).

  6. 6

Click Prepare Ride, arrange your entertainment on screen, then press Start Ride.

  7. 7

Watch your show — VeloLoop handles the rest.

What happens during a ride

While you ride, VeloLoop watches your sensor readings in the background. When a metric drifts outside your target range it gradually dims the screen and draws dark borders around the edges — a gentle visual nudge to adjust your effort. A brief on-screen cue tells you which metric needs attention and which direction (for example, "CADENCE ↓").

As soon as your effort comes back into range the screen recovers smoothly. There is a short grace period before any feedback appears, so brief fluctuations are ignored. The idea is simple: stay on target and the picture stays clear.

After your ride

Every ride is automatically saved as a standard FIT activity file in your Documents/VeloLoop/Rides folder. The file contains second-by-second power, cadence and heart-rate data, plus a lap for each workout step.

Upload the FIT file to the platform of your choice — Strava, Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks and Intervals.icu all accept standard FIT uploads. When Strava is connected in settings, you can also upload directly from VeloLoop's post-ride screen.
